Matthew graduated from Davidson College (just north of Charlotte) with his Bachelor's degree. Upon graduation he journeyed to Japan where he lived for six years, studying Aikido (attaining his black belt) and Shiatsu (his first encounter with the Meridian system of the body). After returning to the US, he attended Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA where he earned his Master's of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Matthew is licensed under the laws of the state of North Carolina to practice acupuncture and its adjunct therapies. He currently serves on the Executive Council of the North Carolina Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCAAOM).
